YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AND PROVEN RESULTS
WHO AM I?
I began my musical career at age 5, playing the piano, and then went on to study the violin at age 10. I played the violin throughout high school and went on to earn a full college scholarship with the University of Hawaii Symphony Orchestra
After graduating with a degree in Biology (I used to be a researcher in a Genetics Lab doing studies on hereditary disease), I decided to go back and take voice lessons. I entered a Vocal Competition, and I won a full scholarship to the University of Hawaii Vocal Performance degree program.
Hawaii being the paradise that it is, attracted many world-renowned masters, coaches and singers, including Richard Pearlman, an acclaimed stage director and opera administrator, and the director of Lyric Opera of Chicago's young-singer training program, the Lyric Opera Center for American Artists; Mary Dibbern, theMusic Director of Education for The Dallas Opera and Vocal Coach for the Opéra National de Paris; and renowned Metropolitan Opera star Denyce Graves, among others, and I was fortunate to be a beneficiary of their coaching.
I then became a full-time professional singer. I was the lead female vocalist for the rock band “RIME” at the famous Wave Waikiki nightclub; had my very own Jazz Band performing weekly in Waikiki; performed opera with the Hawaii Opera Theatre and at the Four Seasons Resort at Hualalai; and I am the lead singer of the band “Don Tiki” with whom I’ve performed at the Tiki Oasis in San Diego, the Seattle Symphony Benaroya Concert Hall, the Berlin Wassermusik Festival, Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Downtown Los Angeles.
I played leading roles in the musicals “Sayonara,” “Romance, Romance,” “BatBoy,” “The Song of Singapore,” “My Way, a Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra,” and the operas “The Magic Flute,” “Hansel and Gretel,” and “The Pirates of Penzance," and I have been featured on several albums as a recording artist and have done voice work for the hit TV show “Community.”
I began teaching in 2004 at Chaminade University in Honolulu, teaching both private voice lessons and a course called “The Arts in Education.” I started teaching private voice in 2013 in Pasadena, in addition to acting, selling real estate and performing Stand Up Comedy.
